21st December was a memorable and special day for our specially-abled children at Sambhav Project, Deepalaya Special Unit in Sanjay Colony. Students from both the shifts reached the centre around 10 AM in the morning. Teachers with the help of students decorated the centre. All of them waited with baited breath for the visitors from Pespsico India to arrive. The Pepsico team reached our centre around 12. The celebrations of the day started with traditional ‘tilk’ and ‘tika’ for the guests. A prayer song by Vishnu Kumar (Visual Impairment) set the tone for the cultural program conducted hereafter.
The emcee for the program was Ms. Sheron Mathew, physiotherapist. The program began with a dance performance on ‘I am the Prettiest Christmas tree’ by a group of girl students of the unit, followed by a solo dance program by Ashwani Jadon (having Down’s syndrome). It culminated with a dance jam in which members from the the PepsiCo team danced in sync with our students. This was followed by a brief sports event conducted by Ms. Kalpana Dass (Project coordinator) along with special educators Mr. Shah Rukh and Mr. Harbeer Singh, in which 15 children participated in musical chair. Abhishek was the winner and Prashant was the runner-up in the musical chair event, and both were presented a gift by the PepsiCo Team. The day ended with a cake cutting ceremony and gift distribution for all the students according to their wish list, a lovely gesture for our students from the PepsiCo team.
