Education Tour to National Science Centre – RJRNDLC



A group of ninety six children from Ramditti J. R. Narang Deepalaya Learning Centre, Sheikh Sarai visited National Science Centre near Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, on December 5, 2019. The children from Class I, II and remedial unit were accompanied by five class teachers and headmistress Dr. Sangita Sen also accompanied them.

The museum, one of the biggest science centers in the country was setup with the aim of the allowing children to explore experiment and have fun with science. National Science Centre aims at the popularization of science as well as scientific awareness among the common people, especially among the school children.

After reaching the Science Centre, a resource person Mr. Kailash Chandra from the centre greeted the kids and explained the models as they moved from one gallery to the other. The students took a tour of the following galleries- Water- the elixir of life, Hall of nuclear power, our science and technology heritage, Human biology, Pre-historic life, Fun science, Information revolution, Emerging technologies-Space Technology, Information and Communication Technology. The galleries showcased a plethora of exhibits that covered various topics.

Observation and Experiences

Their effort to achieve scientific literacy in the country is worth to be mentioned. This time they organized a special awareness programme on food adulteration. They explained different types of adulteration in black pepper, turmeric, milk, ghee, biscuit, sugar, tea leaves, green pea, honey etc which are daily used by common people. A hand on demonstration has made the programme attractive for all.

The group then travelled a short distance by bus and visited National Gallery of Modern Art near India Gate. Children were excited to get a glimpse of India Gate from bus. They visited ‘Jaipur House’ inside the art gallery. Different types of drawings, paintings, sculptures were there. The most attractive thing was the shiny tree on the lawn of art gallery. This tree is made up of stainless steel. Its foliage is made by many household stainless steel utensils; children were very excited to see it.

The kids enjoyed their lunch with their friends after visiting the center and were unable to stop sharing the experience. For the students, it was a great learning experience. An experience that motivated students to learn through seeing and doing.
