To create awareness amongst children on importance of clean drinking water, sanitation and for promoting healthy hygiene practices, Ms. Sakshi Gaba and Mr. Pradeep Kumar along with three interns – Ms. Avineet, Ms. Kavaya and Mr. Naveen conducted a workshop on water, sanitation and Hygiene at VTC Dwarka, Sec- 15, Kakrola on 11th October, 2017. 16 students falling in the age group of 10 to 18 years from the Vocational training centre participated in the workshop. It started with a short introduction about the need and importance of keeping our surroundings clean. To ensure that the workshop does not become monotonous, the students were asked to answer a few questions. The idea was to understand what they know about Sanitation & Hygiene. After the discussion the students were asked to fill a short questionnaire regarding their routine and to identify unhealthy practices that they follow. Thereafter, an animated short film was shown to make them aware about the epidemic diseases that may spread in case proper hygiene is not maintained.

The staff then gave a presentation on some do’s and don’ts so that they can keep their local and public places clean and protect the environment. They were also given a few tips for maintaining their personal hygiene.

Towards the end, the students pledged to keep their surroundings clean and inculcate the healthy habits in their routine followed by light refreshment.
