Whenever one speaks about the story of Indian Independence, it is incomplete without speaking about the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi, whom we call our Father of nation. In order to give a tribute to Bapu, Deepalaya celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on 5th October. The staff and the children were eagerly waiting for this day. They have been rehearsing their the last few days.
The programme started a welcome address. Children thereafter spoke about Gandhi Jayanti and its importance. Baby Siya and Baby Priya were adjudged as the best speakers in Hindi speech and Baby Sonali spoke very well in English.
hen the programme proceeded with group dance. Children were adorned in the best of their clothes. One after other, different children came upstage and performed. The best three performances were given prizes. Thereafter, children recited English and Hindi poems followed by dance performance. Baby Soha, Sabreen and Laxmi recited the poems so beautifully that the audience did not move from their place.
Then children played a water coins game. A bucket of water was placed on the stage. A small steel bowel was put on the bottom of bucket. Ten coins were given to the participants. The participants who were able to put more coins in the bowel was declared the winner.
Thereafter, two plays were staged. One of the plays revolved around Gandhi Ji’s struggle and his work for attaining freedom. The second one was dedicated to Swachhta mission. Towards the end, children were given prizes and refreshment. The children not only learnt about Gandhi Ji but also enjoyed participating in different activities.
