Amway India carried-out disinfection drive at Deepalaya

The dramatic spread of COVID-19 has disrupted lives, livelihoods, communities and education worldwide. Organizations around the world are coming together to minimize the impact on health. Although, the risk of getting infected is high at all levels, yet Child care Institutions face a different kind of risk.

In view of this, Amway India and Deepalaya came together and carried out a disinfection drive at Deepalaya Children’s home, Gusbethi, on April 24, 2020, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Disinfection Drive at Deepalaya by Amway India.

Deepalaya school Gusbethi and our Children’s home are fighting the coronavirus spread by sanitizing the premises, classrooms, floors and washrooms during this shutdown. Internal sanitization with the help of disinfectants conducted through #Amway India. We know that hygiene and cleanliness are the keys to deter the spread of coronavirus and keep our students healthy and safe, therefore conducted internal sanitization at both the locations.

Cleaning of visible surfaces followed by spraying of disinfectant is an excellent practice to prevent the spread of COVID19 virus and taking other precautions in a school setting which is settled at a short drive away from Gurgaon lies Mewat, situated among the fringe districts of Haryana.

The drive was conducted in both – boys’ and girls’ homes, where 70 children stay together. Before disinfecting the premises, children were shifted to the nearby campus. They were engaged in different activities to keep them motivated. The drive was conducted with the help of Group 4, a company specializing in providing these services. While the kids enjoyed themselves, the homes were ready towards the end of the day. Of course, they wore a cleaner look. Children felt relaxed and happy. It feels better that there is this cleaning done through the support of Amway India, students added.

We are grateful to Amway India India for their extraordinary support during the global pandemic.

Corona Pandemic – COVID19 Relief Work

Deepalaya's Mission Salamati - Support to COVID-Hit Families

The pandemic coronavirus has driven India into a state of confusion. Healthcare workers are battling this epidemic in unity, the history and treatment strategies of which are still uncertain. One cannot deny, however, that this epidemic’s unimaginable existence has prompted its citizens to take a united stand in fighting this pandemic.

Deepalaya is a New Delhi-based organization with programs being introduced throughout northern India. The group is committed to improving the lives of children in disadvantaged circumstances. They agree that community understanding is the path by which empowerment, capacity building and social change can be accomplished.

Deepalaya believes that battle against this novel disease cannot be won unless we accept shared responsibility, although this seems a little challenging as the high population density affecting a large part of the population living in rural villages and urban slums runs a high risk of being affected by the spread of the virus due to community transmission.

Collective Responsibility is Essential

Dinesh Kumar Pal was working with a construction company before corona virus was declared as a pandemic and before the government announced complete lockdown. He worked as a supervisor and kept track of stock on site. The company tried to pay 50% of the salary before closing its operations completely. Apart from his own children, Dinesh looked after the family of his brother, who is unemployed since long. The family has a special child also. At this particular point of time, when they were struggling to make arrangements for essential commodities, it was hard to take care of the kid. His parents too needed medication. Our teachers tried to help restore mental peace by counseling the parents and also helping the child remotely. But what brought respite to the family was the money they got form Deepalaya. Thanks to the support extended by GiveIndia. You all can spread joy amongst these families. All you need to do is share this post widely and donate to the cause. Even Rs. 100 would help in providing meal to the needy. Please come forward and make this world a better place to live in. https://www.facebook.com/donate/1625064600975994/?fundraiser_source=external_url

A story like these inspires us to work relentlessly for the communities who are most vulnerable due to this global crisis. Without the assistance of such dedicated grassroots level staff and out supporters Deepalaya wouldn’t have succeeded in distributing ration or help financially to the families of daily wage labours.

A circumstance such as a coronavirus pandemic demands that we all come together to help the most vulnerable to tackle the challenges beside ourselves. Deepalaya aims to bring all the communities together in this battle against an unseen enemy through collective effort through awareness and support.
