- Identified, appointed and trained the required programme and teaching staff
- Surveyed the area, identified possible programme locations, discussed with the people and selected the programme locations, with due care to avoid overlapping with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan programmes and educational programmes of other NGOs
- Conducted a Baseline Survey of the programme locations, as per the checklists given by Reach India and guidance of Deepalaya and identified the number, status and levels of out of school children in these locations
- Held meetings with community at each location and dialogued with MCD/Govt Schools in the area
- Identified places for Leaning Centres
- Enrolled as many of the out of school children identified, into (a) the MCD/Govt Schools and (b) their Learning Centres

As part of the continuing capacity building of the Deepalaya Reach India Programme (DRIP) partners, Deepalaya organized the 3rd Exchange of DRIP Experiences on 22nd August 2006. The DRIP partners made presentation on the implementation and accomplishment of their programmes on the basis of a format designed and given to them by Deepalaya. The exchange dealt with the programme locations, staff, up to date performance, class wise mainstreaming, problems faced and how tackled, community contributions, steps being taken for retention of the mainstreamed, programme efficiency, plans to improve programme efficiency, scope for reaching out to more out of school children, how the programme will be continued beyond July 07, specific steps taken or systems improved to improve transparency in account as a result of collaboration with Deepalaya and steps taken or planned by each DRIP partner to conform to the code of ethics and conduct of NGOs.
Monitoring Visits
During the period from February to August DRIP team carried out 56 days of monitoring visits to the 98 Learning Centers, each center having been visited 2 to 3 times.
