I have learnt how to
- Look at an individual child as "unique" and work with the child accordingly
- Develop a training schedule keeping in mind the needs of the beneficiaries
- Analyze a test to know where remedial education is required
- Use everyday objects to teach simplify science
- Develop instruments to assess the effectiveness of training
M.V.Anuradha, Coordinator-DRIP, NIRMANA
I shall put to use the pre-test method more scientifically, I shall prepare teaching and learning aids
Shashikar Bharadwaj, Field Supervisor, AVBM Trust
Learnt what is primary education,
… learnt how to teach Science;
… learnt how to do more involvement of unwilling trainees
… need more training/workshop on Pedagogy
… If training materials were provided before all trainings that would have been more useful
Renu Bala, Teacher, ALAMB
The exchange of experiences in DRIP implementation was very enriching. Learnt a lot through the mutual discussions which took place after each presentation.
Meeta Mishra, Prog Coordinator, ASRA
I have learnt about ‘Indicators’, ‘Disaggregation’ and ‘LFA – Logical Framework Approach’; but all these will lead to lot of paper work, although it will help us to work systematically.

Mr. Pradeep Kumar, Manager, Programme (Deepalaya) at the Learning Centre of Nirmana at Haiderpur
Blossoms from the dust – the key is to inculcate desire to study:
A view of URIDA’s Learning Center at Sector-15, Dwarka
Shabnam, is a 10 years old daughter of Mohammad Babu Khan and Bano Begum, who stay at Bharat Vihar, Kakrola in South West Delhi. Babu Khan is old, weak and cannot work. Bano Begum goes out for odd jobs. Though Shabnam wants to study, her parents are not keen and want her to take care of the home, while her mother is away at work. As a result of the repeated visits of the community workers of Alamb to the Khans, Shabnam started attending Alamb’s Learning Centre at Sector-15, Dwarka. Alamb staff continues to visit Babu Khan’s house and ensure that he or Bano attends the parent’s-teacher meet. Alamb’s visits and counseling have started showing some positive change in the attitude of the parents. Alamb hopes that Shabnam will continue to attend the Learning Centre and can be educated in the local government school in the next academic year.
Master Manoj, 10 years old, is the only son of Ramesh and Parvati staying at Bannual Nagar slum. Manoj’s mother is a domestic worker and father also works away from home. Manoj’s parents did not want him to go to school as his two younger sisters are at home. Nirmana’s staff somehow managed to get him to their Non Formal Education Centre at Bannual Nagar. After attending the centre for two months, Manoj got interested in studies and persuaded his parents to send him to school. He appeared for the test in the local MCD School and is now admitted to class II.
