LITERACY AND EDUCATION PROJECT
Every child deserves education. But the fact is that enrollment of students in primary schools is very low. Even if they do enroll the drop out rate is very high. About 40% students don't continue their studies beyond 5th standard, out of which 66%are girls. In this situation Deepalaya comes into action, running schools for such dropouts through sustained efforts to bring them back into the education fold. Deepalaya strives to educate the underprivileged section of the society through formal and non-formal education. Conceived in 1979, the idea of educating the poor children has reached a milestone with Deepalaya School Kalkaji Extension getting provisional recognition from the Government of India in 2009. Deepalaya has five formal schools namely Deepalaya School Gole Kuan (DSGK), Deepalaya School Kalkaji Extension (DSKE), Ramditti J.R.N Deepalaya School (RJRND), Deepalaya School Sanjay Colony (DSSC), Deepalaya School Gusbethi (DSG) and Deepalaya School. Titron, Saharanpur. Today, Deepalaya has established 337 educational centers where 50,000 beneficiaries are educated through formal and non-formal education. Deepalaya is accredited to National Open School for both academic and vocational purposes. Apart from that, Deepalaya also runs an ‘Education on Wheels’ project in order to make education available to the poor at their doorstep. As the name suggests, this program has a well-equipped bus with computers, television and other education related accessories to provide opportunities to those children who are deprived of any form of education. The project has been innovative in its approach by providing multi-grade teaching in which the children of different ages and levels of learning are taught by a single teacher who uses special methods and techniques to make learning enjoyable. Deepalaya also imparts technical skills through vocational training institutes, increasing their ability to secure a job and helping India to be a truly developed country. You can also help us in providing education. Step ahead and get counted!
