They gave you their life and now its time to give them back your share……

“Today I am here because I believe that when I was young and was learning, I received and gained a lot from my parents and the environment. They have given me a lot in my life, and now, its time for me, to give them back my share” said the, Mr. Somesh Sehgal, General Manager Crompton Greaves Ltd. while addressing students at the Deepalaya School Kalkaji Extn. He was present in the school along with his team of 9 employees, to celebrate World Environment Day with the Deepalaya children on 5th of June 2009.

Mr. and Mrs. Sehgal who is also working with Oxfam India, were highly impressed with the quality education Deepalaya is providing to the children. Experiencing the disciplinary environment and the confidence of the children both were taken aback. They were happy to see the children dressed neatly and tidy. The Eco friendly atmosphere attracted them the most. They shared their school experience too with all.

Crompton Greaves Ltd. which through its punch line says ‘Everyday Solution’ also believes in solution to Save Environment which is planting more trees. CGL believes that it is important to give back to our community, to our neighborhoods. In this endeavor, they decided to celebrate World Environment Day with Deepalaya students by way of planting medicinal plants in the school campus. The celebration started with an essay and drawing competitions for students of the primary (3rd-5th) and middle school (6th - 8th). 50 students participated. The topic for the essay competition was ‘Importance of plants in our life’ and for drawing it was ‘Save Environment’. Children participated with great enthusiasm.

Later, each one was on the field to plant the trees. 13 medicinal plants were selected by CGL for this day. During the interactive session kids were eager to know about Crompton Greaves and the reason of celebrating this auspicious day with Deepalaya Children which were addressed by Mr. Sehgal. Refreshments were distributed after the session and everyone was bid a goodbye with a promise to Save Environment, plant more and more trees and a long lasting relationship.

The winners of the competitions will be declared later by CGL. The employees have collected some stationery items for the school children which will be donated on the day of Prize distribution to the winners.
