The Earth is all what we have in common!!

April 23, 2009: Imagine a place full of trees, colorful flowers filling fragrance into life, a life which is beautiful, healthy and green. This dream will not last long if we don’t start thinking about Mother Earth and the Environment, and take a firm step ahead to conserve it. The ‘Earth Day’ on April 22 is one such initiative that makes a humble beginning towards this goal.

Deepalaya School, Sanjay Colony celebrated the day with great fervor, thanks to sincere efforts of the Eco Club, supported by the Department of Science and Environment, Government of Delhi.

All for Mother Earth
The event marked its beginning by an Oath-taking Ceremony where children pledged to save electricity. Children contributed towards the “One Earth, One People, One Effort” campaign by switching the lights off from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm, on 22nd April, 2009 in response to the call from the Department of Environment and Forest.

The day was full of exercises which had a colorful impact on the young ones. They came up with their own ideas and thoughts over the subject. “Their imagination and perspective in the form of articles, drawings and slogans is supposed to be projected all over the school campus”, said Ms Monideeepa, the Principal.

Grade III students express their love

A drawing competition organized at Science Museum, Pragati Maidan served as an icing on the cake where almost 100 students of different classes from the five Deepalaya schools, including Gusbethi explored their talent and came up with flying colors. Shikha of class VIII won the III prize with her thought provoking image of Mother Earth in a protective shield of her tiny hands. “I could not think of a better way to protect our wonderful planet. We, the children must hold her close to us with love and tenderness”, said Shikha.

The children went to the Science Museum and got to see skeletons of many pre historic animals. Refreshments kept the energy and the excitement level of the children reaching the sky.

My place on Earth
Success and failure are two sides of a coin. Thus, while some bagged prizes, others had an experience, but one thing which all got was the realization of a dream, the dream of a greener, healthier and prosperous earth.

Following lines best describe the zeal and love for our environment:

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods
There is a rapture on the lonely shore
There is society, where none intrudes
By the deep sea, and music in its roar
I love not man the less, but Nature more
