Radio, TV, Theatre: How do you say it?

March 3, 2009: The last working day of February was full of good things for students of Deepalaya. Students from three different Deepalaya campuses had brushes with three different communication channels at three different places. While children at Deepalaya School, Sanjay Colony enjoyed yet another shooting schedule on Brijesh and Reena's achievement in the daytime, students of Deepalaya School, Kalkaji Extension visited the Meow FM studio and met their favorite RJs in the afternoon. The evening was Ramditti JR Narang Deepalaya's, where 5 students from the school played the main cast in a play staged at Akshara Theatres.

Loksabha channel interviews Brijesh
Loksabha, Parliament's very own channel conducted a day long documentary shooting on Reena and Brijesh at Sanjay Colony and Gandhi Basti locations and later captured some shots at the children's houses. The same was done for a show called "Hauslon ki Udaan" which features how brave souls survive themselves after a lot of struggle and testing, and come successful with flying colors. Reena and Brijesh, who are enjoying their recently gained star status have been interviewing with many TV channels and newspapers since their exemplary achievement at the Special Olympics. Friday's day-long shoot was just another addition to this.In the afternoon, 12 students from grades X and XII visited the Meow FM Studio headquartered in Videocon Towers at Jhandewalan. These children, accompanied by Ms Tanushree, had expressed a wish to learn more about the Radio and meet some of their favourite RJs. When Deepalaya arranged for an exposure visit to Meow, it was certainly a "thodi-meethi-thodi-catty" moment. The students were delighted to enter a real FM studio and learn how the good things flow from RJs to the skies, and there to the world. Following a small technical brush-up, RJs Roshi, Jayshree and Gini shared their experiences with our children, who were fascinated with the cool life an RJ lives. They were indeed happy to play the pranks and game in person with the RJs which they had only heard on the Radio, which is India's first "just-for-women-radio- station", promoting the fairer sex, just like Deepalaya. RJ Gini played the "buzz" game with children while RJ Jayshree tested our children's Bollywood gyan through her "shabd se ga" game. The children were impressive.

RJ Jayshree giggles at one of the answers
The best part of it was the antakshari session where three teams were formed and the competition went on in full sway. Anand, who had visited Radio Mirchi with another friend some days back, was in full form and impressed the Meow team. You are a damn good singer man. Keep it up were RJ Roshi's word for him as he sang an old classic and Roshi's team won! All his doubts about becoming a good RJ got clarified. It was pure fun as the children went back home smiling and giggling.

The Fish Bearing Tree and Hotel Dima
5 students from Ramditti Deepalaya staged a play at Akshara Theatres in the evening. The play titled The Fish Bearing Tree talked about two brothers who ran a fake hotel in the North East. The children beautifully displayed how the two would befool visitors with a tree which bears real fish and then flee away with their valuables. The 30-minute comedy was warmly applauded by everyone present. The children, who had been training under Ms Jalabala Vaidya, have staged a couple of plays at Akshara in the recent past. All in all, the month concluded on a bright, positive and fun-filled note for everyone at Deepalaya. The following weekend only added to it!'
