What better time than the young age in which to inculcate a positive attitude to environment?
A painting competition on ‘Children & Environment’ was organized by National Human Rights Commission and Delhi Child Rights Club on 1st December 2007. The event was part of the Human Rights Day Celebrations. The participants were expected to illustrate “eco-friendly and non eco-friendly environment” through paintings. The contest was conducted for two age groups: 10-12 years and 13-15 years. Three students, Sumit of Class XII, Deepalaya School Kalkaji Extension, Shweta of Class VII, Deepalaya School, Gole Kuan and Komal of Class X, Deepalaya School, Sanjay Colony participated in the 13-15 years’ category and bagged the first, second and third prize respectively. Imran of Class VI, Ramditti J.R. Narang Deepalaya School, who took part in the 10-12 years’ category, won the second prize. All the winners received cash awards and certificates from the President of India at a function at Vigyan Bhavan on 10th December.
