It is a rare combination of beauty, brains, compassion and concern for the socially deprived. She has the brains, beauty and talents to be selected as Miss India Universe 1995. And she is concerned about the welfare of the socially deprived children. She has not only lent her name as a “Friend of Deepalaya” but also sponsors the education of two children. Yes, we are talking about Ms. Manpreet Brar who swept the audiences off their feet in the Miss India contest and continues to impress us with her public engagements. For those of you who may not know her contributions to the cause of education of the deprived, we present below a recent meeting with her.

Ms. Brar recently played host to her two sponsored children, Ruby of Class IXth and Deepak of Class IIIrd at Ramditti J.R. Narang Deepalaya School. She shared breakfast with them and her hospitality overwhelmed the children. What stood out was the warmth and sincerity in her interactions with the children. She not only made them feel at ease but also listened to them attentively. The children entertained her and her husband, Mr. Wallia with songs. The Brars’ were very impressed and congratulated them. Ms. Brar asked the children about their favorite subjects, what they would like to become when they grow up, about the school and about their families. She told them that if they ever needed any help they just had to ask her. She pampered them with lots of love throughout the time they spent with her. Finally when it was time to bid goodbye she presented them chocolates and other gifts. She expressed her desire to meet the children more frequently than in the past.
Little wonder that this accomplished woman who showed her class was selected as Miss India.
