3rd Annual Day Celebration at Deepalaya School Gusbethi

Deepalaya School Gusbethi celebrated its 3rd Annual Day on 30th of March 2007. Ms. Selvi Roy, Deputy Director, Deepalaya welcomed the Chief Guest Bhai Nihal Dhariwal, a prominent local leader, the parents and the children. In her welcome speech Ms. Selvi urged the villagers to come forward and take advantage of the health and education facilities provided by Deepalaya. The Chief Guest and all those from HRC were welcomed with bouquets. Alongwith Ms. Selvi, the Chief Guest lighted the lamp to formally open the Annual Day programme.
Tiny tots from Lower Kindergarten and Upper Kindergarten presented an action song welcoming all the guests. Following which Ruksar and group presented an Urdu Nazam i.e. Urdu poem to praising Haryana. The starting line goes as “Rab na banaye nagari jo lagti hai swarg jaisi”.
The Annual Report of the School was presented by the Headmaster Mr. Aas Mohd. He shared that starting from 194 students in the first academic year the school has in the present academic year enrolled more than 300 students and the application for recognition of the school to the Education Government has also got approved and the school will get certified from the new session onwards. In addition two students were selected to represent the block in the district level sports meet. With the final examination already held he reported that the results of the school were above 95% and three of the students were going to appear for their X grade level.

Sahida and group presented a Qawwali highlighting the importance of education. Next a Garhwali dance was presented by the girls’ class I & II.
The Chief Guest Bhai Nihal Dhariwal delivered his speech where he thanked the management for asking him to grace the occasion. He appreciated the work being done by Deepalaya team. He addressed the gathering that looking at Deepalaya was like looking at ‘mini India’ where all the religions live harmoniously. He asked the villagers to open their doors to Deepalaya to enable their children have a bright future which would give encouragement for development. In jest Bhai Dhariwal said that lighting of all the lamps together shows that Deepalaya is working with a good heart. At the end of the speech he said that he was impressed by the Annual Report presentation presented by the Headmaster in English which shows the progress made by Deepalaya in the region.
The next programme on the schedule was the prize distribution for the best students and Best House in sports. Anjum and Rubina of III grade were given the Smt. Rajni Varma Memorial Award for all round outstanding performance in class III. The Chief Guest gave away the prizes comprising of certificate, dictionary and a cash prize of Rs. 250/- each. Ms. Selvi presented the 1st, 2nd, 3rd position trophies of best sports houses to Sania House, Ricky House and Gago House respectively.
Prize Distribution
A Haryanvi dance was presented by Sarita and group after the prizes distribution, following this dance was an Urdu Nazam on girl child education by Mr. Mohd. Fayaz (Urdu teacher) and Ruksar (class V). The Nazam depicted a conversation between a father and daughter on the issue of girl education in a male dominated society. A group song on human perseverance to face calamity together was presented by Jacky and group.
The audience had a visit by Charlie Chaplain and friends in their midst and had everyone laughing with their antics. The day was also of showcasing talents by the teachers. Rajesh Babu (teacher) brought out sounds of different musical instruments with Ajeet singing on the tunes of the music. This was followed by a colourful dance aptly tilted ‘Desh Rangeela’ depicting the unity of the nation. At the last was a solo dance by Jacky to the tune of ‘Kai kee pan banaraswala’, a popular Hindi film song.
The programme ended with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Rajshree Thakur, Programme Manager, Deepalaya. In her speech Ms. Rajshree thanked the Chief Guest in his generosity in giving his time for the children of Deepalaya. She also thanked all the other guests, friends and villagers who had given their time to join in the Annual Day celebration of Deepalaya School Gusbethi. In her closing sentence Ms. Rajshree requested the Chief Guest and the villagers to collaborate with Deepalaya towards envisaging a better future for the region as a whole.
