Subhash Das, a twelfth standard student of Deepalaya School Kalkaji Extension weighing 50 kgs, miraculously bore the pain of a 45 kg heavy student standing on his stomach without any problem. Adding to the surprise, the two ends of Subhash’s body were supported by chairs while the middle was not supported when the other student stood on him. He did not even felt the pain when students pricked him with pins. The big secret was that Subhash attained the Samarpana state of Yoga in which, if one shares what one needs, it will happen. It is attained by focusing on the divine image of ones faith. On attaining divine power, the person does not feel any pain as his capacity to bear pain increases by numerous folds. Astonishingly, Subhash and 5 other students of the same school practiced this form of Yoga for the first time, and attained the Samarpana state successfully.
Subhash recalls it as an enriching experience. He says, “ It was a state of absolute peace and I felt very energetic even after attending the ten hour long session.” Samarpana state was one of the activities, which took place in an exclusive one-day basic workshop titled “success @speed”. The focus of the workshop was “Developing authority on the subjects for life”. Teachers and 50 students of Deepalaya School, Kalkaji Extension studying in classes VIII to XII had the rare opportunity of attending this workshop in their school premises on September 9, 2006. The corporate Spiritual Mentor Dr. Rakesh Chopra and Ms. Harpreet Sethi unfolded the secrets to success to the audience. Dr. Rakesh said, “Tuning into divine knowledge adds speed to learning and results in achievements of targets.”
Through the workshop, the students were motivated to think about their life and goals 30 years from now. Then, special approach of 100% concentration was explained to them in order to practice it in the right direction to achieve those goals. How to use mind as a tool for learning, understand the power of the mind and practice with 100 % concentration were some of the things discussed. Chandra Prakash, a tenth class student, was highly motivated by the strategy. He says, “I will implement it in whatever I do now in my life, whether it is academic or personal.”
Later, the right methods of learning by understanding the basics were explained with simple examples. This was followed by six-step strategy of study and how to merge intelligence with intellectualism. Urvashi Kukreja studying in tenth standard commented, “ It encourages us to learn beyond books and develop a multi- faceted personality.”
A 20-page booklet on the learning and content of the workshop was given to each student. It will enable them to focus on what was taught and work towards attaining 100%. Eighth class student, Renuka Kumari excitedly said that she would do meditation to freshen up her mind and increase her levels of confidence.
The workshop was a well-researched programme in which the participants learnt the methods of learning on their own in a simple way. It was interactive and participatory with lots of activities. Dipanita Ghosh, an English teacher said that she would implement the strategies to improve her teaching methods. She also added, “ the procedure to read a book by first giving it a glance and then, reading the whole book like novel followed by reading each page as novel. And eventually summarizing the whole book will surely help the students in understanding the subject and making notes in a better way.”
The rapid-fire questions demonstrated the skills needed to shift the focus from one topic to the other. A Compact Disc, “Feel the bliss of divine power” was given to the school which explained how to enter into the Samarpana State. This will be used during assembly and in classes for the students to attain the divine power and consequently, accomplishing success and speed for achievements of targets.
