Own a Painting and Revamp a Life

Jul 28th, 2006 Tags: none

Beautify your home to add colours in lives of innocent needy children. With this idea in mind, Mr. R B Santosh Kumar held his annual painting exhibition, “Charulekha” at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi from July 26, 2006 to July 31, 2006. The entire proceeds of the paintings went to improve the lives of Deepalaya students. An individual purchasing a painting received an additional bonus- he/she became the proud sponsor parent of a Deepalaya child. In other words, the buyer undertook the financial responsibility of educating a child at Deepalaya. Deepalaya will keep the sponsor parent informed about the progress of the child in school and allow him/ her to meet the child once a year as per their convenience.

The Painter with Deepalaya Students
This was Santosh’s first charity initiative in Art. And he chose Deepalaya as the beneficiary organization because he has immense trust in its approach, determination and work. The exhibition was formally inaugurated by Ms. Sharon Lowen, eminent Orrisi Danseuse. Students of Deepalaya School presented a special song and dance performance on the occasion. Charulekha is Santosh’s eighth solo exhibition. Charulekha literally means beautiful depiction. And through his paintings, Santosh tried to sketch every shade of life adding new significance to it. The paintings covered diverse subjects ranging from history and mythology to nature and human figures. Each painting exhibited efficient strokes in interesting colours of the palette reflecting the artist’s love for life and harmony.

The painter incorporated different subjects in his single exhibition to reach a wider audience having different interests. Santosh made the paintings keeping the audience’s tastes in mind and synchronized it with his own innovations. His motive was that most watercolour must be sold in order to benefit the students. His efforts were well appreciated and twenty one artworks were taken away by generous art lovers. Deepalaya is obliged to Mr. R B Santosh Kumar for all his efforts and concern towards Deepalaya and its children. According to Ms. Sudha Parthasarathy, Sr. Manager, Marketing, Deepalaya, “We are very happy to have Mr. Santosh as a Deepalaya Friend and we hope that we have a long lasting association with him and many more bighearted people like him.” Mr. R B Santosh Kumar is the Vice President, Acceptance Head (North) in Citibank, New Delhi. He is a painter by passion and painting since the age of five. To know more about his paintings, you can log on to www.rbsantosh.com.
