Annual Day Celebration at Deepalaya School Gusbethi

Deepalaya School Gusbethi celebrated its 7th Annual day on the 1st April’06. The function saw a large gathering of parents, well wishers, donors/sponsors and NGO partners apart from Deepalaya staff and Board Members. Mr. Vijay Kr. Aggarwal, Manager Syndicate Bank, Tavaru Block presided over the function. 
The Annual Day celebration started with a Saraswati Vandana presented by students, followed by solo songs, a Rajasthani folk dance, a skit ‘Curses of Unemployment’ and a mimicry performance by Mr. Rajesh Babu (one of the wardens of the Boys Hostel). The major attraction of the show was a play "Kanha and Yashodha", a drama on Lord Krishna’s BAL Lila (childish pranks). This play was presented by the children of Deepalaya Gram.
On this occasion, the outstanding children were also felicitated for their performance in academics as well as extra-curricular activities. Red House was declared as the top performer in cultural and sports event. Jackey, captain of Red House received the Ever Rolling trophy from Mr. Y.Chackochan (Board Member). The second position was won by Yellow House. Captain of the house Rajesh received the trophy from Rtn. T.K. Mathew. Green House bagged the third position and Master Akram received the trophy from Mr. Ashok. The Rajni Verma Memorial Award (2004-05) for All Rounder Girl Student at Deepalaya School was also given away on this occasion. The honors were shared by Ruqsar and Rekha of class III. The criteria for selecting the awardees are based on their academic performance, participation in extra curricular activities, personal hygiene, regularity and punctuality. They received a cash prize of Rs. 250 each and gifts worth of 250. Mr. Vijay Kr. Aggarwal was touched by Deepalaya’s effort to rehabilitate the children picked up from the streets and platforms of Delhi. Comparing Deepalaya to a great ocean he said, “Fantastic and wonderful to see the smiles and hear the laughter of these children. It is not only a drop in the ocean. Every ocean started as a drop and my wish for you is to become the world’s longest ocean.” He later made a donation of Rs. 1100/- to the organization.
