Day 1 – 9/09/2017: The team started the journey from the Deepalaya campus early in the morning and boarded train. The staff members and volunteers assisted students in settling down to their respective reserved seats. The kids were given refreshment. The team arrived at Loharu Station where the BITSian welcomed them and escorted them to the BITS Pilani Campus. All the girls and boys from our team were taken to their respective accommodations as per the arrangements they had made. Throughout the event we were helped and briefed by BITS volunteers. Around 1:00 P.M. the team had Lunch at the hostel mess and then all took a short nap for an hour.

At around the Inauguration Ceremony started with the lighting of the lamp by the Guest of Honor, Shri. Anand Kumar an Internationally recognized Para Badminton athlete. He has been regular at most para-badminton meets, and has won the Israel Para Championship on three occasions. Everyone who was honored to be a part of Guest panel addressed the audience with a motivational speech. Different eminent personalities like Shri. Anand Kumar who has been an athlete with Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy and Mr. Hitesh Ramchandani who has been an International Speaker with Cerebral Palsy motivated the students. Deepalayans were fortunate to have an interactive session with Mr. Hitesh Ramchandani. After the Inaugural ceremony, they had organized recreational activities like dancing, painting and games for the students. During recreational activities, not just the students but even the teachers and volunteers were full of exuberance and joy. Around 7 in the evening, they had dinner followed by a movie, Mr. Bean in their auditorium. Everyone had a hearty laugh.

Differently-abled kids getting awards at Junoon 2017

Later in the day, the kids waited for last cultural event — Junoon nite. Around 4:00 P.M. the team was split into two groups — the dancers went to the auditorium and the rest went for recreation activities. Our students performed extraordinarily well. At the end we had a fortunate interactive session with the Chief Guest.
