Celebrating failure equally as success
I have failed over and over and that is why I succeed – Michael Jordon
Be it education or latent talent activities, students studying in Deepalaya Learning centers have proved their mettle as have the formal school students. These students are though enrolled in government schools but study in Deepalaya learning centers for remedial education centers. They are taught to celebrate their failure so that they can strategise to succeed later on.
This December, 9 students from Father and Daughter Alliance and 2 students from Vocational Training projects at Sanjay Colony decided to participate in a dance competition organized by Zenith Dance Academy. Unlike other competitions, where results are given in one go, it had a long process. The students were required to give audition and could move further only if they are selected in the audition.
Mr. Arun Massy from the academy took audition of all the 11 students, out of which 5 students were selected for second round. All the 5 students went to Lok Kala Manch on 6th December to take part in the second round. With stiff competition from other NGOs like Bharti foundation, Literacy India foundation and Vidya Jyoti foundation only one student was selected in Round two but could not go further.
Whatever may be the outcome at the end, it was a huge opportunity for the students, who had never participated in such professional competitions. The children met renowned Bollywood Celebrities like Happy Birthday song rapper D Soldierz (Apurav Aditya & Anupam Aditya Sharma) , Die Hard Fan (Mr. Avi J Punjabi music rapper) etc. Towards the end, the students were encouraged and gifted T-shirts and Certificate of Appreciation from Mr. Sooraj Katoch, Founder Member of Zenith Dance academy. The students got an insight on how such competitions are conducted and wowed to work hard to clinch the trophy next year.
